Heavenly Father, after the example of Leo John Dehon,
grant us the grace to live lives of love and reparation.
Help us to live in such a way that Your reign of love
will be established firmly in our hearts.
Father, we ask You to hear our special prayer today
(here mention your requests)
through the intercession of Your servant,
Venerable Fr. Leo John Dehon.
Grant that we might be Your faithful servants
and that we might enjoy everlasting life with You
forever and ever. Amen
O God our Father, You granted to Fr. Dehon the grace of experiencing the love of Jesus' Heart. Inflame us with the same love for You and for all humanity.
Send us your Spirit, so that the love of Christ, present among us, may revitalize our communities, to give witness of our fraternal life to a divided and indifferent world.
Strengthened by Christ
we commit ourselves to proclaim
your reign of love for all
so that You may be known and loved
and “our joy may be complete”.
Amen.
The following prayers reflect the spirituality of our founder, Leo John Dehon, they are prayers of oblation. That is, they reflect Jesus' utter surrender to the Father's will. Through this kind of surrender of self to God, our life becomes an offering or oblation to God, in union with Jesus.
These prayers express the framework of Leo Dehon's relationship with God, where he makes a vow and thereby commits himself to a relationship of love with God exclusively.

O Jesus, before you and your heavenly Father, in the presence of Mary Immaculate, my Mother, and St. Joseph, my protector, I vow, from love alone, to dedicate myself to your most Sacred Heart; to concentrate my life and energy to the work of the Oblates of your Heart, accepting in advance all the trials and sacrifices it may please you to ask of me. Father, I vow to have as my intention in all that I do the sole love of Jesus and His Sacred Heart. I beg you to move my heart, to inflame it with love for you so that, not only shall I have the intention and the desire to love you but also, by your grace, the happiness of seeing all the affections of my heart centred on you alone. Amen
My Jesus, I renew with love the pact I made with you. Grant me the grace of being faithful to it. Amen
Prayers of Oblation
This is what Christ said on coming into the world: "You who wanted
no sacrifice or oblation prepared a body for me. You took no pleasure
in holocausts or sacrifices for sin; then I said, just as I was commanded
in the scroll of the book, 'God, here I am! I come to do your will.'"
(Hebrews 10:5-7)
Lord Jesus Christ, you were wholly at the disposal of your Father's will.
Help us to be like you, accepting all the Father may ask of us. May our
love be generous like yours; may it lead us to make a true oblation of
ourselves. In this way, may the Father's will be done on earth as it is
in heaven. Amen.
I appeal to you, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as
a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
worship. (Romans 12:1)
Lord Jesus, you invite us to share the gift of your Body and Blood in
the Eucharist. Accept the offering we make of ourselves; our work, our
joys and our suffering. Teach us to be completely available for the task
of proclaiming your mercy to the world, and so to prepare for the coming
of your Kingdom. Amen.
"You are my friends if you do what I command you. I shall no longer
call you servants, because a servant does not know his Master's business;
I call you friends." (John 15:15)
Lord Jesus Christ, you have called us friends. We surrender ourselves
to you with the desire to live your life of love and carry out the will
of the Father. Day by day, we come to receive from your opened side the
forgiveness of our sins and the outpouring of your Holy Spirit. In Baptism
your Spirit consecrated us as chosen servants of your Father for the praise
and glory of his name. Unite us, Lord, to your Eucharistic sacrifice,
so that we may share in your mission of saving the world. Make us perfect
in your love and lead us to the Father as his loving children. Amen.
On the last day, the greatest day of the Festival, Jesus stood there
and cried out: "If any of you are thirsty, come to me! Let whoever believes
in me come and drink!" (See John 7:37)
Lord Jesus, "Come and Drink" is an invitation to believe in your love.
By the power of your Spirit within us, we express our desire to spend
another day close to your heart. In our celebration of the Eucharist and
during our adoration, we drink with joy from the wells of salvation and
are filled with your Spirit of love. Increase our thirst for the gifts
of your Spirit, so that we may learn to love one another as you love us.
So may we know the happiness of seeing all the love of our hearts centred
on you and your Kingdom. Amen.
